Hardware Upgrade

The motor, which is connected to a six-speed gearbox, produces 14.2Nm of maximum torque at 7,500 rpm and 18.1bhp at 10,000 rpm. The assist and slipper clutch mechanism is still used by the gearbox. Above 7,400 rpm, the variable valve actuation system engages to give powerful performance across the rev range. The motorcycle is reasonably speedy in the lower RPM range, but it starts to rev up at about 4,500 rpm.

The Yamaha FZ 16 edition was launched back in 2010 on the primary generation of FZ. Since the invention of the internal combustion engine, automobile engineers have strived to find effective ways to deliver air and fuel to the combustion engine. The device which controls the ratio of the air-fuel mixture entering the engine is known as a carburetor, a fuel injection system also does the same.
In simple terms, a carburetor helps the air-fuel mixture to enter the combustion chamber. All this is done through mechanical parts. The fuel injection system also helps the combustion chamber to get an air-fuel mixture, but with the aid of electronics and sensors, and not through mechanical parts.
The fuel injection system comprises a complex set of electronic components and sensors. The system depends on a fuel pump to control the flow of fuel to the combustion chamber. This fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank of the bike. The supply of fuel to the combustion chamber is enabled through an Electronic Control Unit (ECU). This electric brain constantly monitors and makes complex calculations to deliver the best possible air-fuel mixture.

The complex calculations include parameters such as throttle position, engine speed, engine temperature and load, among others. The nozzle of the fuel injection system goes right into the chamber of the cylinder. Hence, the ECU directs the injectors to control the amount of fuel to enable the most efficient mode of combustion.
Fuel-injected engines are efficient when we talk ‘work’. By efficient, I mean the overall engine performance increases. A pump is actually located in the system that makes sure that the fuel efficiently mixes with air and is supplied to the combustion chamber to produce efficient power.
The pump regulates and utilizes the amount of fuel that is subjected to the combustion chamber. The accelerator acts as a command for the pump to start pouring the required amount of fuel and air to burn, making the engine generate more power and it results in enhanced throttle response.
